Jackson Pollock and "action painting"

This month an abstract painting, "Convergence" is featured. The painting method the painter used was new and revolutionary at the time.

Action painting is a style of abstract painting in which paint is randomly splashed, thrown, or poured on to the canvas. It was made famous by Jackson Pollock (1912 - 1956) , and formed part of the more general movement of Abstract Expressionism.
